The RVR (Recreational Vehicle Runner) debuted in 1991 as a compact tall-wagon/MPV, an early example of the crossover-MPV format that shared roots with the Chariot. After the nameplate lapsed, Mitsubishi revived it in 2010 for a compact crossover SUV, sold globally as the ASX and as the Outlander Sport in North America. That model had an unusually long production life, running for well over a decade with successive facelifts.
The Mitsubishi RVR is a compact crossover and, in earlier generations, a compact MPV. The modern RVR is the Japanese and Canadian name for the vehicle sold elsewhere as the ASX and Outlander Sport.
