Fourth-generation Kijang wagon in basic SX (short wheelbase) and LX (long wheelbase) form, sold in Indonesia from 1997 to 2000 as an international-market MPV. STORY

The Kijang went on sale in Indonesia on 9 June 1977 with a 1.2-liter 3K petrol engine and a four-speed manual, after a prototype was shown at the 1975 Jakarta Fair. The name is the Indonesian word for muntjac, a small deer. The second generation arrived in June 1981 and the third in November 1986. The fourth, launched in January 1997, produced the wagon nicknamed Kijang Kapsul. In 2004 Toyota moved the model to the three-row Kijang Innova, and the Kijang Innova Zenix of 2022 added a hybrid option.
