First-generation Kluger (XU20) as sold in Australia from October 2003 to 2007, where the 3.3-liter 3MZ-FE V6 was the only engine. This version has all-wheel drive, an automatic gearbox and 328 Nm of torque. The grades were CV, CVX and Grande, with Grande at the top.

STORY

The Kluger name was used for the first-generation Highlander, built for Japan from November 2000 to May 2007 and sold exclusively through Toyota Netz dealers. Australia received the XU20 in October 2003 with a single engine, a 3.3-liter V6. The XU40 followed in August 2007 with a 3.5-liter V6, and the XU50 in 2014. The fourth-generation XU70 reached Australia in June 2021 on the TNGA platform with a V6 and, for the first time, a 2.5-liter hybrid. Japan did not receive the second generation under the Kluger name.
