The Mark II Qualis arrived in Japan in 1997 and took over from the rear-drive Mark II wagon, which had been carried forward from the X70 generation. It was built on the XV20 Camry platform, shared with the Camry Gracia wagon, but sold through Toyopet Store dealers. It had front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive on the 2.5-liter V6. Engines were the 2.2-liter 5S-FE four, the 2.5-liter 2MZ-FE V6 and a 3.0-liter V6, a size the Japanese Camry did not get. Sales ended in January 2002 after about 87,940 had been built, and the rear-drive Mark II Blit replaced it.
The Mark II Qualis was a front-drive station wagon sold in Japan from 1997 to 2002. It was the upmarket twin of the Camry Gracia wagon, sold through Toyopet Store dealers, with four-cylinder and V6 engines, a four-speed automatic and all-wheel drive on the 2.5-liter V6.
