Qualis 3.0 1MZ-FE V6 FWD automatic Wagon

XV20 · 1997–2002FWD

The Qualis 3.0 used the 1MZ-FE V6, an engine the Japanese Camry did not offer, which made it the most powerful Mark II Qualis. Sold in Japan from 1997 to 2002, it had front-wheel drive and an automatic gearbox, and sat at the top of the Qualis line.

STORY

The Mark II Qualis arrived in Japan in 1997 and took over from the rear-drive Mark II wagon, which had been carried forward from the X70 generation. It was built on the XV20 Camry platform, shared with the Camry Gracia wagon, but sold through Toyopet Store dealers. It had front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive on the 2.5-liter V6. Engines were the 2.2-liter 5S-FE four, the 2.5-liter 2MZ-FE V6 and a 3.0-liter V6, a size the Japanese Camry did not get. Sales ended in January 2002 after about 87,940 had been built, and the rear-drive Mark II Blit replaced it.
