The Pronard 3.0 was Japan's version of the American-built Avalon, imported from the United States from 2000 to 2004. It uses the 1MZ-FE 3.0 litre V6 and an automatic gearbox, with the engine sending power to the front wheels. Only one engine was offered, so buyers differed only in equipment level.

STORY

Pronard was the name under which Toyota sold the second-generation North American Avalon in Japan, continuing the Avalon that Toyota had imported there since 1995. The cars were built at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, and sales began on 7 April 2000 through Toyota Vista dealers. The only engine was the 1MZ-FE, a 3.0-litre V6 with VVT-i rated at 215 PS (158 kW). Toyota listed the 3.0 at 3,150,000 yen, the 3.0 L at 3,450,000 and the 3.0 G Package at 3,800,000, excluding consumption tax, and aimed to sell 1,000 a month. The 3.0 L grade had a front bench seat for three. Production ended around November 2003.
