Marino 1.5 F 5A-FE early FWD manual Sedan

AE100 · 1992–1995FWD

Entry Marino F with a manual gearbox, sold in Japan from 1992 to 1995. The 1.5-litre 5A-FE four-cylinder delivers 105 PS and 135 Nm to the front wheels. This is the least expensive way into the hardtop Marino, and the pre-facelift engine tune separates it from the later 100 PS car.

STORY

The Sprinter Marino went on sale in May 1992 and was built under contract by Kanto Auto Works until mid-1998. It was sold only at Toyota Vista Store locations, with a Corolla Ceres twin sold at the Corolla Store. The body was a four-door pillarless hardtop on the E100 platform with a 2,465 mm wheelbase. Engines were the 1.5-litre 5A-FE in the F grade, the 1.6-litre 4A-FE in the X grade and the 20-valve 1.6-litre 4A-GE in the G grade, at 160 PS at first and 165 PS as the Black Top from 1995. Buyers could choose a four-speed automatic or a five-speed manual, with a six-speed manual on the Black Top. A minor facelift came in May 1994. The Marino ended in 1998 without a direct replacement.
