The Vanguard 240S FF is the front-wheel-drive version of the Japan-only crossover, sold from 2008 to 2013. It uses the 2.4-litre petrol engine with 170 PS and 224 Nm and an automatic gearbox. FF is the lightest and simplest Vanguard, for buyers who did not need four-wheel drive.

STORY

The Vanguard was introduced in Japan in 2007 on the long-wheelbase version of the XA30 RAV4 platform. Where the RAV4 was sold as a compact crossover in most markets, the Vanguard gave Japanese buyers a larger body, an available third seating row and a more upmarket interior. It was offered with a 2.4-litre four-cylinder and a 3.5-litre V6, with front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive versions. Sales ended in 2016, and the nameplate has not returned since.
