911 (992) “Eroded” · Ash & Pyrite: Porsche x Daniel Arsham, 2019
Artist collaboration · with Daniel Arsham · 2019 · Combustion

A brand-new 911, recast as a 1,000-year-old relic.
Daniel Arsham took a brand-new 992-generation 911 Carrera 4S, disassembled it, and recast every panel so the car appears geologically eroded, its bodywork crumbling to reveal clusters of white selenite and quartz crystals blooming from the hood, fenders and flanks, all rendered in a uniform ash-grey. The piece is the automotive centerpiece of his “fictional archaeology,” which imagines present-day objects unearthed a millennium from now (hence the ARSHAM 3019 plate). Crucially it remains fully drivable. Debuting at Selfridges in 2019, it later went to auction at Phillips and has since shown at the Porsche Museum.
