Jeep Gladiator Concept

A diesel pickup concept that foreshadowed Jeep's return to trucks

The 2005 Gladiator concept was a rugged, diesel-powered pickup that previewed cues later seen on the Wrangler and Jeep's eventual truck revival. It used a 2.8 L turbodiesel four making 163 hp and 295 lb-ft through a six-speed manual and full-time 4WD. A clever expandable bed stretched from 5.5 feet to nearly 9 feet with the tailgate down, and it offered a fold-down windshield and removable doors.
