Italdesign's slippery five-door saloon with a Delta heart
A bold, futuristic Giugiaro/Italdesign study introduced at the 1982 Turin show, the Orca was a five-door hatchback-saloon built around Lancia Delta mechanicals. Its smoothed edges and flush glazing achieved a remarkable 0.245 drag coefficient, and it featured steering-wheel-mounted controls operated by ultrasonic impulses plus a front-facing brake light to warn pedestrians.
