A radical sports crossover with e-Power series hybrid
The Gripz was a compact sports-crossover concept blending crossover practicality with sports-car excitement and a bold, motorsport-inspired design. Rather than a conventional combustion setup, it used an EV-based 'Pure Drive' series-hybrid system, later branded e-Power, in which a small petrol engine acts purely as a generator to power a LEAF-derived electric motor. It previewed the direction of Nissan's crossover styling and electrified powertrains.
