A consumer-electronics giant's surprise electric sedan
Sony stunned CES 2020 by revealing the Vision-S, a fully electric sedan built to showcase its imaging, sensing and in-cabin entertainment technology rather than to enter mass production. Developed with Magna Steyr, Bosch, Continental, Nvidia and others, the prototype carries 33 sensors including CMOS image sensors and solid-state LiDAR for driver assistance, a panoramic dashboard display, and 360 Reality Audio speakers built into each seat. It was fully drivable and later underpinned the Sony-Honda Mobility Afeela programme.
