Yamaha Sports Ride Concept

A featherweight sports car on Gordon Murray's iStream Carbon

The Sports Ride Concept appeared at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show as a compact mid-engined two-seat sports car and the first vehicle to use Gordon Murray Design's iStream Carbon chassis technology, a carbon-fibre structure built from two skins around a honeycomb core. Yamaha aimed to translate the direct, connected feel of a motorcycle into a car, and the concept weighed just 750 kg, putting it in the company of lightweight sports cars such as the Alfa Romeo 4C and Lotus Elise.
