Ford Mustang RTR
Drift icon car · Modern FD

The American counterweight: loud, wide, heavily branded and built for Formula Drift visibility as much as competition.
The Spec 5-FD is the culmination of two decades of Mustang drift refinement. RTR has been campaigning Mustangs in Formula Drift since the Coyote 5.0 era, every iteration has been a public-facing engineering project, with the cars built in the same shop that ships the street RTR packages.
Where Japanese drift culture historically prizes lightweight rhythm, the RTR programme has leaned into power, livery and team identity. The car carries a 1,200hp twin-turbo V8, a hand-fabricated angle kit and a contingency-decal package that is itself a piece of cultural language.
James Deane joined the programme in 2022 and immediately turned the platform into the discipline-cleanest expression of American V8 drift in the modern era. The car is now the visible answer to the question of what an American drift weapon looks like in 2026.
