Hoonicorn V2

Ken Block's twin-turbo Hoonicorn Mustang and Mad Mike's RX-7 trading drifts at the Goodwood Festival of Speed hillclimb

Camera weapon, not a tandem one. Hoonicorn V2 never ran competitive door-to-door; it taught the internet to read smoke, angle and car control as cinema instead. Different rubric, same rail.

A 1965 Ford Mustang fastback chassis with effectively nothing original left, full custom space frame, all-wheel-drive transaxle layout, a Roush Yates-built Ford small-block twin-turbocharged for the V2 update. The V1 was a naturally-aspirated 845-hp build for Gymkhana Seven; V2 added twin Garrett turbos and pushed the dyno number past 1,400 hp for Gymkhana Ten.

Ken Block built the Hoonicorn as the most ambitious entry in a series of cars designed for camera, not competition. Hoonigan and Roush Yates engineered the V2 powertrain in Park City, Utah; the car has appeared at Goodwood Festival of Speed, in Climbkhana, and in the head-to-head with the Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracán.

Block passed away in early 2023. The car now lives as a cultural object more than a working competition platform, at Goodwood 2023, Mad Mike Whiddett ran it alongside his RX-7 in tandem, an explicit handoff from one media-driven car-control language to another.
