The most-photographed modern Japanese drift identity. Naoki Nakamura's Team Toyo Tires Drift S15 carries the founding D1GP-era discipline forward into the streaming generation, the same chassis NOB Taniguchi and Daigo Saito defined the original judging vocabulary with.
Team Toyo Tires Drift formed in the mid-2010s as a Toyo Tires-backed Japanese drift programme. The pairing with Naoki Nakamura locked the visible identity around the Nissan S15 chassis, the platform NOB Taniguchi had defined the founding D1GP-era discipline on, now carried forward by a driver Nakamura's generation called "the calmest chase in the paddock".
The S15 build is reference-grade, SR20 internals, Toyo Proxes rubber, the Pacific Industries / D-Max fabrication tradition all visible in the chassis. It is the post-2015 answer to the question of what a modern Japanese pro drift car looks like, on the same body the founding generation defined.
Cultural function: continuity. After a decade where the most visible drift media moved to American FD and European Drift Masters, this car keeps the Japanese paddock identity exportable. When the S15 appears at Goodwood, Drift Masters or Formula Drift Japan rounds, the Toyo Proxes livery reads as the founding chassis still alive at the front of the grid.
