The Story

Why the Brio matters

Honda launched the Brio in Thailand in March 2011 as a small, low-cost car for emerging markets. The first generation, coded DD1 and DD2, used a 1.2 L petrol engine, with a 1.3 L offered in Indonesia at first. India followed in 2011, Indonesia in 2012 and the Philippines in 2014. The Brio Amaze sedan joined the range, and a facelift came in 2016. Thai production ended in April 2020 and Indian production in 2018. The second generation was unveiled in August 2018 and is built only in Indonesia, with a 1.2 L engine and a choice of manual or CVT. Local markets have their own grade names, such as Satya, RS and Urbanite in Indonesia.
