The Story

Why the AMG GT SUV matters

The AMG GT SUV was unveiled on 17 October 2026 as the first sport-utility vehicle to carry the GT name and the second production model on Mercedes-AMG's dedicated AMG.EA electric platform, after the GT 4-Door Coupe shown in May 2026.

The platform was previewed by the Concept GT XX and uses axial-flux motors developed with YASA, the UK motor specialist Mercedes-Benz acquired in 2021. The GT 53 has two synchronous motors; the GT 55 and GT 63 use three axial-flux motors, with the GT 63 rated at 860 kW peak. All versions run on an 800-volt system and are built in Sindelfingen.

Orders for the GT 53 opened in Germany on 20 October 2026, with the GT 55 and GT 63 following in spring 2027.
