A 30th-anniversary tribute to BMW's mid-engine icon.
Created under design chief Chris Bangle for the 30th anniversary of the Giugiaro-penned M1, the M1 Hommage debuted at the 2008 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este on Lake Como. A pure design study with no powertrain specified, it reinterpreted the original's ultra-slim headlights, louvred bonnet slats and horizontal double-kidney grille. Its wedge silhouette went on to heavily influence the BMW i8.
