Isuzu 4200R

Isuzu's mid-engined V8 supercar that might have been

The 4200R was a mid-engined sports car concept shown by Isuzu at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show, styled under Shiro Nakamura with Julian Thomson of Lotus, both companies then part of the GM group. It was built around a newly developed 4.2-litre DOHC 32-valve V8 mounted transversely, with active suspension developed alongside Lotus. Unusually for a supercar it was conceived to carry two adults and two children on long journeys, and its cabin bristled with a navigation system, video deck and even a fax machine. Isuzu later dismantled the car and never produced it.
