The wild off-roader that reached production nearly unchanged
The VehiCROSS was unveiled as a concept at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show, its progressive, organic body meant to showcase Isuzu's off-road technology as an emotional recreational vehicle rather than a workhorse. The design team, led by Satomi Murayama at Isuzu's Brussels studio and including Simon Cox, reached production with remarkably few changes, helped by inexpensive ceramic body-stamping dies and shared Isuzu parts. The production VehiCROSS went on to compete in events including the Paris-Dakar and Australian Safari rallies.
