'Flow' -- the design language born from moving water.
Nagare, Japanese for 'flow', was a design study that launched an entire Mazda styling language. Penned by design director Franz von Holzhausen and Mazda's advanced Irvine studio in Irvine, California, it explored how motion shapes natural surfaces, translating the behaviour of liquids into deep, flowing body sculpting. Described as 'a concept of a concept', its surface philosophy went on to influence Mazda production design for years, most literally on the third-generation Mazda5.
