Plymouth XNR

Virgil Exner's asymmetric slant-six Corvette fighter, bodied by Ghia

The XNR, named for designer Virgil Exner, was a dramatic asymmetric roadster with an offset driver's hump and towering rear stabilizer fin, hand-built in steel by Carrozzeria Ghia in Italy. Under the hood sat a hot NASCAR-spec 2.8 L Slant Six producing around 250 hp, good for a claimed 152 mph. Proposed as a Corvette rival, it never reached production; the sole car survives after a long, storied history.
