Porsche Tapiro

Giugiaro's gullwing wedge on a 914/6 chassis.

Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and built by Italdesign, the Tapiro debuted at the 1970 Turin Auto Show as a striking wedge with gullwing doors for both cabin and engine bay. Based on the Porsche 914/6, it embodied the sharp-edged style that would define Giugiaro's early-1970s work. Sold to a Spanish industrialist and used as a daily driver, the car was largely destroyed by fire and survives, still fire-damaged, in Italdesign's collection.
