Mercedes-Benz F700 concept (2007)
Concept car · 2007 · Combustion

The luxury sedan that ran a four-cylinder like a diesel and drove like a V6.
The F700 was Mercedes-Benz's ultra-luxury research sedan built to prove that big-car comfort and small-car efficiency could coexist. Its centerpiece was the DiesOtto engine - a 1.8-litre twin-turbo four-cylinder with variable compression and controlled auto-ignition that blended the power of a petrol engine with the torque and economy of a diesel. Combined with a hybrid module, it delivered S-Class-level performance at roughly 5.3 L/100km. The car also featured a rear-facing lounge seat and a PRE-SCAN suspension that scanned the road ahead.
