Mitsubishi HSX Concept (1989)

The grand tourer that became the 3000GT and GTO
Shown alongside the HSR concept at the 1989 Tokyo Motor Show, the HSX was the styling and packaging study that previewed Mitsubishi's new flagship 2+2 grand tourer. It went into production almost unchanged as the GTO for Japan and the 3000GT for export markets, where it also underpinned the badge-engineered Dodge Stealth. The show car wore a targa-style removable roof panel, an idea dropped for the fixed-roof production coupe before a full convertible arrived later in the car's life.
