Rolls-Royce 102EX Phantom Experimental Electric at Goodwood, front three-quarter

Rolls-Royce's first experimental EV · a battery-electric Phantom to test the water.

The 102EX, or Phantom Experimental Electric, is a one-off battery-electric Phantom VII unveiled at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show and toured to gauge how customers would react to an electric Rolls-Royce. Two rear-mounted synchronous motors produce a combined 290 kW (389 hp) and 800 N-m, fed by a 71 kWh, 96-cell battery pack filling the space of the standard car's engine and gearbox. It never reached production but foreshadowed the all-electric Spectre.
