A car that celebrates the beauty of its own machinery
Shown at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the Kikai (Japanese for 'machine') strips away conventional bodywork to put a vehicle's inner workings on open display. The mid-mounted engine, fuel tank, exhaust and suspension hardware become part of the exterior, and a small window in the firewall by the driver's feet reveals the tyres, suspension and road surface. Inside, a central McLaren F1-style driving position with two rear seats, analogue meters and exposed switchgear celebrates the fundamental craftsmanship and motion of the machine.
