Bertone's mid-engine Italian reimagining of the Corvette
Designed by Marc Deschamps at Bertone and shown at the 1990 Geneva Motor Show, the Nivola gave the Corvette a radical mid-engine Italian makeover. Named after racing driver Tazio Nuvolari (nicknamed 'Nivola') and finished in a gold-yellow tribute to his favorite color, it repositioned a twin-turbocharged version of the Corvette's LT5 V8 amidships via a bespoke ZF transaxle. Features included outward-sliding doors, seat cushions attached to the floorpan for an ultra-low profile, hydropneumatic suspension and a removable roof.
