The centennial GT40 tribute that public demand turned into a supercar
Presented at Detroit in 2002 as a one-off tribute to the Le Mans-winning GT40, the GT Concept drew such overwhelming enthusiasm that Ford greenlit a production run. Its supercharged 5.4 L DOHC V8 made 550 hp through a Ricardo six-speed transaxle. The near-identical production Ford GT followed for the 2005-2006 model years, with 4,038 built.
