Bruce McLaren's unfinished road-car dream, revived by MSO
The M6GT was Bruce McLaren's 1969 attempt to turn the M6 sports-racer into a road-going GT; he built and drove the first example himself but died before it reached the planned 50-car production run. For the 2026 Goodwood Festival of Speed, McLaren Special Operations revived the car over a roughly 3,000-hour build, using original body moulds and archive references and a period-correct small-block V8 with the iconic 'camel hump' cylinder heads. It launches a new MSO heritage restoration programme. The original M6GT ran a Bartz-tuned 5.7-litre Chevrolet V8 (~370 hp), weighed around 800 kg and could reach roughly 165 mph.
