McLaren MP4-X concept (2015)

A closed-cockpit vision of future Formula 1
The MP4-X was McLaren's concept for what a Grand Prix car might become, wrapping an open-wheel racer in a closed, transparent canopy for driver protection. It imagined solar cells and inductive charging feeding a hybrid powertrain, negative-pressure aerodynamics that could stick the car to the road, and shape-shifting bodywork. It was a design and technology study rather than a car intended to race.
