Roy Lichtenstein BMW 320i Art Car #3 (1977), front view

Roy Lichtenstein's Ben-Day dots and comic-strip lines on a 320i.

Pop-art pioneer Roy Lichtenstein turned a Group 5 320i Turbo into a comic-strip landscape, its Ben-Day dots and sweeping lines meant to depict the scenery a car races through. The car competed at Le Mans in 1977. Lichtenstein said the lines showed the road the car had passed over, and also the sky and sun.
