Volvo ReCharge Concept

A plug-in series hybrid with a motor at each wheel

Based on the Volvo C30, the ReCharge Concept was a plug-in series hybrid with four independent electric wheel motors and no mechanical link between engine and wheels. Its lithium-polymer battery pack allowed about 100 km of pure-electric driving before a 1.6-litre Flexifuel four-cylinder engine fired up as a generator to power the motors and recharge the battery.
